Bullish
Executive Wins Valliere Cup
Fort Erie,
September 10…Bullish Executive spotted
the field 7 lengths at the start then exploded around
the far turn to score a dramatic come from behind victory
in the Don Valliere Memorial Cup at Fort Erie Sunday
afternoon.
With Eddie Robinson
in the irons for owner/trainer Stephen Wells, Bullish Executive
chased the torrid early pace of Angel’s Wisdom (22
4/5 and 44 2/5). Angel’s Wisdom faded in the stretch
to finish third, Shipman closed on the rail to finish second,
two-lengths behind the winner.
The five-year-old
son of Bold Executive covered the six furlongs in 1:10
flat and earned $18,000 for the win. He paid $20.10, $6.80
and $8.20.
On Saturday, jockey
Monique Dionne recorded her third Cup win of the season
when she guided Harvest Singing to a two-length victory
in the Longshots OTB Cup.
The six-year-old
daughter of Dr. Adagio opened up a three-length lead going
into the far turn and was never really challenged scoring
her 4th win of the season. Grab The Cat, who defeated Harvest
Singing in the Golden Horseshoe Cup August 12, finished
second. Promised Tour was third.
Harvest Singing,
who is owned by Pat and Vern Fernandes, Vern is the conditioner,
also picked up $18,000 for the win and paid $12.60, $3.40
and $2.50. She ran six furlongs in 1:10 4/5.
The “Cup
Series” continue on Saturday with the running of
the Coca Cola Cup, one and three sixteenth miles on the
main track for fillies and mares. Sunday, colts and gelding
compete at the same distance in the St. Catharines Cup.
