FORT ERIE,
September 01...Apprentice jockey Bradley Wilson has
called it quits for the balance of the 2009 racing season.
The 24 year-old
Burlington native rode his fourth career winner on Sunday
while riding with a ten pound apprentice allowance. The
decision to quit now will allow Wilson to ride the 2010
season as a five pound apprentice.
*Fort Erie’s
leading rider Rui Pimentel escaped serious injury when
his mount Lexiecali Rose broke through the front of the
starting gate prior to today’s third race.
Pimentel, who
has ridden 81 winners going into today’s card, was
taken to Niagara Falls General Hospital with a possible
broken nose and should be back in the saddle when racing
resumes at Fort Erie on Sunday.
*Jockey Melanie
Pinto will guest at the Inform Handicapping Seminar scheduled
for Monday at 12 noon on the main floor of the clubhouse.
Pinto, the meets
second leading rider, will join Larry Simpson for the one
hour seminar. Melanie will be on hand to sign autographs
and chat with racing fans.
