Sandspit Scores in the Puss n Boots

Alderson’s Sandspit
rallied from off the pace to score a 1 ¾ length victory
in the Puss n Boots Cup Sunday afternoon at Fort Erie.
With Eldridge Lindsay in the irons, the 9-year-old veteran
runner recorded his 4th lifetime win on the turf, running
the one mile and one sixteenth distance in 1:44 3/5.
Sandspit, who is trained by is owner, paid $15.60, $6.90
and $4.00. Flat Rock finished second, $12.20 and $9.20, Smiling
Jordan, the 2006 Puss n Boots champ, finished third paying
$4.90. The exactor returned $210.70 and the $2.00 triactor
paid $2,307.10.
In The co-feature, the running of the Labatt Cup, jockey
Martin Ramirez guided Nasty Fever to a length victory.
Nasty Fever ran the one mile and sixteenth on the turf in
1:45 3/5.
Owned by Ivan Dalos and trained by the meets leading trainer
Nick Gonzalez, Nasty Fever recorded her 3rd win of the season,
her 2nd on the grass.
Sent off as the heavy favourite, Nasty Fever paid $3.30,
$2.50 and 2.10. Rosie Regent was a closing second and returned
$3.80 and $2.90. Longshot Son Sarria finished 3rd and paid
$5.20. The exactor paid $12.60 while the triactor returned
$70.40.
