Smiling Jordan wins 2008 Cheldon Tour de Fort Cup

FORT ERIE, October 28...
Smiling Jordan, one of Fort Erie’s most consistent runners, kept it all together and scored an impressive win in the 2 mile and 70 yard Tour de Fort Monday afternoon.

Anthony Stephens guided the six-year-old gelding to a half-length victory over favoured Dancer’s Legacy, a proven distance runner looking for his fourth straight victory.

Owned by Joe MacKinnon and trained by Henry Whelan, the son of Accelerator chalked up his 4th win of the year, 15th lifetime and 11th over the Fort Erie racing strip.

In 22 Fort Erie starts, Smiling Jordan has only missed the board on three occasions. His lifetime stats at the Border track 11 wins, 3 seconds and 5 thirds with earnings of just over $143,000.

Smiling Jordan was named Fort Erie Male Distance Horse of the Year the last two seasons. He won the Puss N Boots Cup in 2007 and captured the Don Valliere Memorial this year.
