Beckon Not Injured in Spill

FORT ERIE, October 20...Fort Erie’s leading jockey Chad Beckon escaped injury after being thrown from his mount shortly after leaving the starting gate in Monday’s seventh race at Fort Erie.

Beckon was riding Silver by Appeal for trainer Paul Attard when his right foot came out of the iron (stirrup) and he was thrown from his mount as he attempted to regain his balance.

The 28 year-old native of Bolton is the current leader in the rider standings with 80 wins, 7 ahead of Rui Pimentel. David Garcia is third with 62.

Five days remain in the 2008 racing season. Racing returns tomorrow, first race at 1:05pm.

The Fort Erie season wraps up with four days of racing, Saturday October 25 through Tuesday, October 28.
