Apprentice Spataro Wins First Race

FORT ERIE, October 8...Apprentice jockey Cory Spataro notched his first career win Tuesday afternoon at Fort Erie.

The 24-year-old Toronto native guided I See Rockets to a two and half length victory in the first race.

Spataro, who began his riding career on the “B” circuit in Lethbridge, Alberta, says he new he had the race won at the top of the stretch. “I knew the minute we turned for home. I hit her once and it was all over. This is as good as it gets.”

The Winston Wilkinson trained runner paid $9.80, $5.20 and $2.60.
