Month of 2009 Racing Season
FORT ERIE,
October 04...October marks the final month of the
2009 live racing season at historic Fort Erie Race Track. Celebrating
112 years of thoroughbred racing, Fort Erie will wrap up the
season on Tuesday, October 27.
12 live days remain,
as of October 4 with live racing every Sunday through Tuesday.
Post time is 1:45pm.
As far as sure
things go, jockey Rui Pimentel will win his first Fort
Erie riding title and for trainer Nick Gonzalez, it will
be his third training title at the border track.
Pimentel has ridden
85 winners so far, 37 ahead of Anthony Stephen who has
48 wins. Melanie Pinto is third in the standings with 44
wins.
Gonzalez has saddled
55 winners. John Simms and last year’s leading trainer
Mike Newell are in a close battle for second. Simms has
32 wins, two up on Newell.
