Bash at the Fort Featuring Abbamania
FORT ERIE,
June 8...The most popular Abba tribute act in
North America is coming to Fort Erie this coming Sunday.
Abbamania The Concert will be the feature attraction
as the track celebrates 110 years of live racing while
paying tribute to the Town of Fort Erie on it’s
150th birthday.
The Town of Fort
Erie was incorporated on June 10, 1857. Forty years later
live thoroughbred racing began at the Border track. The
track officially opened June 16, 1897.
Sunday’s
celebration begins at 12:00. Guest speakers include, Fort
Erie Mayor Doug Martin, The Honourable Robert Nicholson,
P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls along with Tim Hudak,
MPP Erie Lincoln, Critic for Finance. Official cake cutting
ceremonies will follow with free cake for everyone.
The first race
of the day goes at 1:05pm. The second race of the day has
been named the Fort Erie Sesquicentennial Race in honour
of the Town. The day’s fourth race will be the Fort
Erie Race Track 110th Birthday Race.
Included in the
day’s festivities, live music throughout the afternoon,
clowns, magic shows, face painting, balloon artists, stilt
walkers and a caricaturist.
The Abbamania
concert will take place on the Paddock stage following
the last race, approximately 4:30pm.
