Wager
on the Plate at Fort Erie
Fort Erie,
June 22... A field of nine Canadian-foaled three-year-olds
are set to compete in Sunday’s $1 million Queen’s
Plate at Woodbine and you catch all the action at the
Fort.
The Plate, race
eight on the Woodbine card, is scheduled to go at 4:37pm.
Wagering on the Plate at Fort Erie opens at 12:30pm Sunday.
Jigg’s Cozz,
winner of the Plate Trial Stakes June 3, has been established
as the 9-5 morning line favourite and will break from post
position 6.
The Queen’s
Plate is the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown. The
second leg is the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes on July
15 here at Fort Erie, while the Breeders’ Stakes,
August 5 at Woodbine, is the third and final leg. There
have been seven Triple Crown winners since the concept
was inaugurated in 1959, the last winner being Wando in
2003.
The first of ten
live races at Sunday at Fort Erie goes to the post at 1:05pm.
