10 Fillies and Mares Set to Battle in Rainbow Connection

FORT ERIE, June 04...Ten fillies and mares, including last years winner Anne’s Purse, will break from the gate in the $125,000 Rainbow Connection Stakes Sunday afternoon at Fort Erie.

The five furlong turf dash has attracted some of Ontario’s top female sprinters competing for top prize of $75,000.

Anne’s Purse will be making her first start of the year for trainer Earl Barnett. The five-year-old daughter of Porto Foricos scored a 3 ½-length win in last years running. She has been prepping on the turf training track at Woodbine and comes to the race off a four furlong turf work in which she was clocked in 47 1/5 seconds.

Other runners include Bent Attorney, winner of last years Ernie Samuel Memorial at the same distance on the turf and Koonunga Hill, runner-up in the race last year.

Fort Erie’s leading rider Krista Carignan will be aboard Dash it Dreamer who is coming off a second place finish in the Ballade Stakes at Woodbine. The Reade Baker trained daughter of Kiridashi will be making her first turf start.

The Rainbow Connection will be the seventh race on the eight-race program and will go to post at 4:41pm.
