Sandy Hawley at Fort Erie on Sunday

FORT ERIE, July 27…Hall of Fame jockey Sandy Hawley will be signing autographs for racing fans Sunday afternoon at Fort Erie Race Track.

Hawley, a four-time winner of the Prince of Wales Stakes, will be signing autographs at the main entrance to the track from 12pm. to 2:00pm.

Sandy’s career as a jockey spanned 31 years from 1968 to his retirement on July 1, 1988. Hawley won 6,449 races and captured 18 Woodbine riding titles, 13 Fort Erie meets, nine Greenwood championships, nine Ontario titles and eight Canadian honours.

Hawley was inducted into the Canadian Racing Hall of Fame in 1986, The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1992 and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.

Sunday is also HBPA baseball cap giveaway day. Free baseball caps with the purchase of a program while quantities last.

First race post time is 1:05pm.
