Fort
Erie Backstretch Opens March 21
FORT ERIE,
February 18...Fort Erie will begin gearing up
for its 113th season of live racing when the gates to
the stabling area open on Sunday, March 21. The main
track will open for training the following day, March
22.
Training hours
will be 10am to 1pm March 22 through April 3.
Beginning Sunday,
April 4 the main track will be open from 7am to 11am with
a break for harrowing at 8:45am.
On Saturday, May
1 regular training hours (6am to 10am) will begin and continue
throughout the 78 day racing season.
“Subject
to regulatory approval”, the Border track will open
on May 1 (Derby Day) and will race the following Sunday
and Monday.
Beginning Sunday,
May 9 the track will operate three days a week, Sunday
through Tuesday with closing day being Tuesday, October
26.
The second jewel
in Canada’s Triple Crown, The $500,000 Prince of
Wales Stakes, will be run on Sunday, July 25.
