August 31...Fort
Erie’s leading rider Chad Beckon suffered a concussion
after he was thrown from his mount during the running
of yesterday’s 8th race and will be out indefinitely.
Beckon,
who won his first race at Woodbine in 2003, lost an iron
shortly after leaving the starting gate and was tossed
from his mount as he attempted to recover.
Beckon,
who finished second in the rider standings in 07 with
73 victories, is currently 10 wins shy of last years
mark. He is 21 wins ahead of the meets second leading
rider, Rui Pimentel.
Two
months remain in the 08 season. The meet wraps up on
Tuesday, October 28.
