Gonzalez Win Steak Ends at Eight

FORT ERIE, August 25...The Nick Gonzalez win streak is over. The veteran trainer was riding an eight race win streak going into today’s first race at Fort Erie.

Early Spring, a two-year-old filly saddled by Gonzalez, finished sixth.

Gonzalez was one win away from equaling the record of nine consecutive winners set by Alex Bankuti in 1984.

“It was fun,” said Gonzalez. “Who knows, maybe we can get another one going.”

Gonzalez is currently the leading trainer at the Fort with 35 wins, ten ahead of last years leading trainer Mike Newell.
