Devon Johnson Gets First Riding Win

FORT ERIE, August 24...It was a long time coming for 41 year-old Devon Johnson who won his first race as a jockey aboard longshot His Little Dancer in the 8th race Monday at Fort Erie Race Track.

Johnson arrived in Canada from Jamaica 17 years ago with hopes of becoming a jockey.  He worked at Woodbine as an exercise rider for conditioner Paul Attard and spent last winter in Florida galloping horses for Laurie Silvera.

Devon rode his first race at Woodbine early in the season.  Johnson has waived his apprentice weight allowance.
