Pink Wins Rainbow Connection Stakes

FORT ERIE,
August 19…Flashy Pink exploded out of
the starting gate and romped to an impressive 2 ½ length
victory in Sunday’s $125,000 Rainbow Connection
Stakes at Fort Erie.
With Dale Hemsley
in the saddle, the five-year-old daughter of Bold N’ Flashy
was sent off at odds of 17-1 and had no trouble turning
back the favourites. “She has great speed,” said
Hemsley. “She didn’t get tired and just kept
on going.”
Flashy Pink covered
the five furlongs on the turf in 57 4/5. She zipped the
opening two furlongs in 22 1/5, and ran four furlongs in
45 2/5.
Owned by Rockyhaven
Farms and trained by Bill MacKinnon, Flashy Pink returned
$36.60, $13.70 and 9.40.
Local runner Timely
Matter finished second at odds of 49-1 and paid $45.20
to place and $11.40 to show. Shot Gun Ela, in from Woodbine
finished third returning $4.30. The exactor paid $582.80
while the triactor paid a handsome $2,145.80.
