FORT ERIE,
August 16...Anne’s Purse was first under the
wire in the $125,000 Rainbow Connection Stakes Sunday afternoon
at Fort Erie.

a slow beginning and rallied from off the pace to score
by 3 ¼ lengths. Anne’s Purse ran five furlongs

Anne's
Purse wins the 2009 Rainbow Connections Stakes at Fort
Erie Race Track
“The turf
was a bit soft today, said Olguin. “She is usually
quick out of the gate but today it took her a quarter mile
to get her feet under her and when she did we were o.k.”
The win was the
fourth in eleven lifetime starts for the four-year-old
daughter of Porto Foricos. The winner’s share of
$75,000 boosts her career earnings to over $282,000.
Owned and bred
by Big C Little C Stable, Anne’s Purse paid $6.80,
$4.40 and $6.90. Koonunga Hill finished second, $7.70 and
$11.70, (ex. $66.70). Bold Maneuver ended up third, $27.30,
(Tri $537.50).
