FORT ERIE, August 12…Longshot Charlie O rallied from well of the pace to win the $25,000 Don Valliere Memorial Cup this afternoon at Fort Erie.

Sent off at odds of 9-1, Charlie O settled in nicely along the backstretch and was angled out by jockey Robbie King Jr. at the top of the stretch and spilt runners to win by a neck.

The three-year-old son of Favorite Trick covered the six-furlongs in 1:11 2/5.

Charlie O, who is owned by Eclipse Racing Stable and trained by Martin Hinckson, was making his 5th appearance at Fort Erie, a track where he has yet to finish out of the money. He has now won three races with a second and a third.

Faygo Dancing Home at odds of 25-1 finished second with Fleet Storm, 21-1 when the betting closed, holding on to finish third.

Charlie O paid $20.40, $8.40 and $4.10. Faygo Dancing Home returned $20.50 and $11.30. Fleet Storm paid $12.40 to show.

Gimmick players were rewarded with a $446.40 triactor payoff and a superfecta that returned $6,465.60.
