With Michael McMullen in the saddle, Break Even relaxed off the pace set by Fezacon and made a solid late run to win the one mile and one sixteenth test by 1 ½ lengths. The final time over a sloppy main track was 1:44 1/5.

“He never runs a bad race,” said McMullen. “There was good pace today and I was able to sit back and relax. He really fired when he had to.”

Owned by Sam Passero and trained by Bob Gilyana, Break Even paid $11.90, $3.80 and $2.60. Great Addiction, who was looking for his third win of the year, also came from off the pace and finished second returning $2.40 and $2.20. Smiling Jordan paid $4.40 to show. The exactor returned $28.70 and the triactor paid $173.30.

Next Sunday Ontario Sired fillies and mares will compete in the $125,000 Rainbow Connection Stakes, a five furlong sprint on the Fort Erie turf course.
