Full Fields for Opening Day
FORT ERIE,
April 27...Seventy-seven horses will compete in eight races when the
113th season of live racing gets underway at Fort Erie Race
Track on Saturday afternoon.
Entries for the
opening card were drawn Tuesday morning and Fort Erie’s new racing secretary John Whitson couldn’t
be happier, “I was very pleased with the fields for
opening day,” said Whitson. “Things went quite
well this morning. I’ve got excellent people to work
with and I’m looking forward to a good racing season.”
There will be
live racing on Saturday and Sunday to kick off the return
of the thoroughbreds. Beginning Sunday, May 9 the track's
regular schedule will go into effect which will see live
racing Sunday through Tuesday, continuing to October 26.
The horses will
go to the post 15 minutes earlier this year. Fort Erie’s
new post time for the first race will be 1:30pm.
All who attend
opening day will be treated to $1 food specials, $2 live
racing programs and live music featuring “The
Legends Tribute Show”.
