Grab the Cat Wins 2006 Turf Writers Cup

GRAB THE CAT led from the break, was pressed inside, widened and was clear on the far turn, then kept to task in the drive with a just off the rail run as late challenge arrived. VALENTINE'S MIST trailed in the early going, was inside and making up ground on the far turn, angled out and bid against the winner but could not reach in a solid try. WINDINTHEVALLEY pressed inside early, tracked from off the rail on the far turn then weakened in the drive while well clear of the rest. MA PECHE in striking distance while near the rear of the field early, lost ground and did not menace. FAIRWELL MADRID backed away after tracking for a half then had nothing left for the stretch. PANIEMONIAM lost ground and was outdistanced.
