Shipman Wins 2006 Thoroughbred Niagara Cup

SHIPMAN opened a slim lead early, widened on the turn, was pressured by rivals in the drive and just held off outside foe. TYLER'S JEWEL off the pace, gained ground on the turn and bid in the 5-path, kept coming on and just missed reaching the winner. FLEET STORM made up ground into the stretch turn, bid between foes in the drive and was outdone late. RUSSIAN HAND had a mild gain after trailing in the early going but needed more. FAYGO DANCING HOME in mid pack, was inside into the stretch, had a mild bid then hung. CHEMISTRY CLASS in mid field, failed to bid and showed little. CHRIS HUNTS chased briefly then backed away and faded badly.
