Ablo Wins 2005 Prince of Wales Stakes

ABLO had early speed to take a slim lead into the clubhouse turn, widened slightly and held sway, then was challenged on the outside going into the far turn, dueled on the rail and inside of AUTUMN SNOW into the stretch, kept battling head to head in the drive and prevailed under strong handling. AUTUMN SNOW forced the early pace from the inside, backed off slightly on the clubhouse turn, angled outside and took on ABLO after going six furlongs, dueled outside of that rival through the turn and into the stretch, was in a stiff battle to the wire and was edged out in the late going. WILD DESERT was off the early pace and tracked the leaders from a distance after going a half, kept contact and was inside on the far turn, then angled out to the 4-path for the stretch run, got it going with a four path rally but could not reach the top two in time. OUT FROM AFRICA kept close and stalked the pace, was in perfect position behind the speed duel on the far turn and into the stretch, bid in the 3-path, closed and finished off a good try. STEPHEN'S GIFT was bumped at the break, trailed early then failed to rally and was never a threat. GRANIQUE raced off the pace, backed off and lost ground then was all done turning for home.
