Le Cinquieme Essai Wins 2005 Daryl Well Sr. Memorial Stakes

LE CINQUIEME ESSAI vied for the lead from outside of rival, went with that one into the far turn, edged clear then opened a gap and held it to the wire. TAMARA dueled for the lead and battled with the winner while romping away from the rest for six then failed to match in the drive but ran on willingly to hold the place. LENNY THE LENDER closed ground to be a factor turning for home then bid in an off the rail drive but needed more. OPEN LOCK gained ground after racing far back but did not menace the top three. SAILOR KNOT was off the pace, lacked a rally and never did threaten.
