For Action Wins the 2004 Edition of The Adena Springs
Matchmaker Stakes

The
$50,000 Adena Spings Matchmaker Stakes kicked off the turf
racing campaign at Fort Erie Race Track this afternoon. Dressed
for Action secured the lead and drew off to victory, covering
the five furlong distance in 58 2/5. Ray Sabourin guided the
four-year-old filly to the winners circle for trainer Tony
Mattine. With bonuses, Dressed for Action earned $48,000 for
the win. She was one and a half lengths in front of Soon to
be Single, Leading Role was third.
In addition to
the healthy purse, the top three runners in the race each
earned seasons to one of three outstanding stallions in the
Adena Springs Stable; Preakness winner Red Bullet, two time
winner of the Grade One Santa Anita Handicap Milwaukee Brew,
and a leading juvenile sire Gold case.
